A Community of Mission

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

Jesus came to “seek and save what was lost.” (Luke 19:10) His outreach train included more than just his apostles, and the Day of Pentecost, the day when his disciples first received the power of the Spirit to be witnesses, was experienced by more than just the apostles. About one hundred twenty men and women were involved. We have been called to be the servants who invite all to the king’s banquet.

Our mission is always a combination of spreading the message of the gospel and our work to establish the kingdom of God on earth through acts of love, mercy, and justice. Our personal roles in this work will be different, but it will always include both proclamation and service.

Love looks outward and risks in love. Our faith should do nothing less.
