Scripture Focused Prayer

Choose a passage of Scripture that can inspire and focus prayer individually or within the group. You can spend a few moments meditating on the passage or discussing its meaning with a prayer group, but remember, this is a prayer activity. Don’t get so caught up in Bible study or discussion that you forget to pray.

Examples:

Acts 1:8 — Pray that God will give us Jesus’ concern for the lost and his desire to see God’s kingdom grow. Pray for the power to be good witnesses. Pray for the gifts of the Spirit, for boldness, and most of all love.

I Corinthians 14:26 — Pray that we act like a body receiving and giving the gifts God has given us for each other. Pray that we will grow in our service and commitment to the Christian community. Seek the gifts of the Spirit.

Hebrews 10:19-25 — Prayers of thanksgiving for Jesus’ gift of forgiveness. Pray that we would approach God now that the way is open. Pray through the list of “let us” commands.
