Developing LeadersJesus turned the concept of leadership on its head. Jesus taught that "whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave--- just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." (Mat 20:26-28) This wasn't a condemnation of leadership, though. It was a call to a higher, more effective form of leadership. In Jim Collin's bestseller, Good to Great, his team discovered that servant leadership was one of the qualities necessary for the long-term success for businesses and organizations. Christians have long understood that leadership was marked by the ability to transfer skills and ideas, so the next generation of leaders could become independent and carry the work farther. "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others." (2 Tim 2:2) The leadership of Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship is committed to developing leadership skills in the willing through teaching, experience, and hands-on leadership opportunities. It is our hope that you will become a positive influence, servant, equipper, and leader wherever God takes you in the future. |
